Company Secretary is a designation given to a Secretary Professional who has received certification from a Statutory body (The Institute of Company Secretaries of India (ICSI)), that he / she is qualified to handle the legal aspects of a business entity. A Company Secretary (CS) is responsible for filing of forms / returns of companies, to keep proper records, to advise board of directors and ensure that the company complies with legal and statutory regulations. A Company Secretary is also qualified to offer advisory services to clients which include Companies / LLPs / Firms / Individuals.
Becoming a Certified Company Secretary requires completing three levels of training designed by the Institute of Company Secretaries of India (ICSI). The ICSI, is a statutory body which regulates and maintains the profession of Company Secretaries in India

About CS - Foundation
CS Foundation is the first level of the CS (Company Secretary) Course conducted by the ICSI (Institute of Company Secretaries of India), whcih can be pursued by the Students those who have completed +2 and its Equivalent. After registration, 9 months study period will be required in order to be eligible to take the Exam i.e. Students registered on or before 30th September / 31st March will be eligible to appear in June / December Examination, as the case may be.
Students who are Graduates / Post Graduates or its equivalent grade or Semi-Qualified CA / CMA can register directly for the Executive Course, as they are exempted from taking the Foundation Course.
